After successfully completing this subject, students will be able to:

1. Describe the range of intra- and interpersonal skills and competencies that research and practice have shown to be of critical importance for success in managing and leading in organisations of growing complexity and diversity

2. Explain the effect self-awareness has on management behaviour

3. Understand the key principles and theoretical underpinnings of behavioural skill learning as a platform for ongoing skill development

4. Understand the conceptual (theory/research-based) dimensions of intra- and interpersonal competency and skill practice

5. Understand both the interpersonal and structural aspects of managing conflict, teams and organisational change.

6. Explain how increased self-awareness can improve proficiency in nominated skill areas.

Using the Leadership Self-Assessment tool, you are required to identify your main individual characteristics and then match these strengths with a leadership type and analyse the impact of these strengths on your potential (preferred) leadership style with justification (theorisation) of the selected/preferred style (s).
