Task 1:

Complete workplace activities in accordance with legal and ethical requirements in at least three different situations

1. A parent hands you an enrolment form with their credit card information on it.

2. A market research company wants to test children’s preferences for snack food after they have been scared.  The researcher will induce fear in the children before offering them snacks to choose from.

3. Jane is four years old and is best friends with Betty.  Betty’s mother wants to know Jane’s father’s mobile number, and she asks you to tell her.

Task 2:

Develop responses to three different legal or ethical issues relevant to the work role.

1. A child in your care has five identical small bruises around both of their upper arms. Throughout the day, they play happily – if not quietly – by themselves and with other children.  When their parent enters the facility to pick them at the end of the day, the child becomes withdrawn, cries, looks afraid, and hides.  You suspect that they may be being physically abused at home.  What do you do, and why?

2. A parent has asked you to babysit their child this Friday night after their child’s babysitter cancelled last minute.  The child likes you as an educator, and this is a once-off situation.  What do you do, and why? 

3. Your first aid and CPR qualification is about to expire and is up for renewal.  Do you renew your qualification, or do you just keep quiet about it?  Why? 

Task 3:

Identify and communicate two potential work practice improvements designed to enhance workplace responsiveness to legal and ethical requirements 

1. What National Policy Framework enhances workplace responsiveness to legal and ethical requirements?  How does it do this? 

2. What are two ways that you can communicate your answer to question A with staff? 

3. Why is it important to communicate this with staff regularly?
