This assessment activity is designed to assess your skills and knowledge in providing information to families about their child.
1Develop a survey of at least five open-ended questions that you could ask parents about the current curriculum and learning environment. The questions should allow the parents to be able to identify:
a)the strengths of the current curriculum and learning environment
b)the weaknesses of the current curriculum and learning environment
whether the goals of the current curriculum are being met (if not, explain why)
2.Write a report on how you would address any changes required changes as suggested in responses from parents in your survey.
1.3Use the program plan template (attached) or develop your own (Attach to your assessment)
Explain how the format is used to present what is occurring in the curriculum. Describe how it:
a)communicates the experiences and activities being implemented to parents;
b)reflects the views and approaches of the service philosophy;
c)reflects the EYLF Outcomes by linking them with experiences and activities;
d is a living document that you can add to as the children interact with the environment and learn through unplanned experiences.
4Design and implement five learning experiences that provide a holistic approach to the curriculum, ensure that each one of your experiences is linked to a different EYLF Outcome: Document each of your planned experiences using table attached for each experience.
4.Implementing learning experiences to foster children’s learning and development - Set up the one of the experiences you planned in Assessment 2, question 2.
Allow your trainer/assessor to observe the set-up of your experience, or take photographs of this initial set-up showing how you have ensured that the required materials are available.
a.Implement the experience in the crèche.
During the implementation, monitor and reflect on the children’s learning. Respond to this by continuously refining the experiences to ensure they meet the children’s learning needs.
b.Record these refinements by noting the:
1.date of initial implementation
2.modifications made and the date and time they were made
3.reasons for the modifications
4.date the experience was concluded.
(Write up your notes afterwards using a planning format using a curriculum or program plan)
c.Describe how you co-constructed meaning with a child during your experience.
d.Provide an example of how you became involved in sustained interactions with a child during the experience.
e.Access EYLF Outcome 4. Choose a learning disposition from Outcome 4 and describe how you modelled and promoted it in the learning experience.
f.Describe how your experience was designed and implemented to reflect your pedagogical practices.
5.What are some policies that link to programming and earning environments? (Explain why they link)
6.What kinds of methods can you use to collect information to use for programming and what are some evaluation strategies?
7.Why is it essential to evaluate and reflect on ALL aspects of the program? Who should you involve and when should it be carried out?
8.Where can you access the NQS, National Regulations and EYLF (outcomes/principles/practices) and what parts link directly to the programming? (Identify the areas that link and explain why)
