The purpose of this assessment is to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to analyse a conflict situation and develop a plan which successfully satisfies legislative requirements and provides a satisfactory outcome for the organisation and the individuals involved.

You are required to analyse the conflict situation described in the JKL Industries Case Study (unresolved conflict situation), develop a negotiation plan and action/implementation plan to ensure conflict is resolved appropriately.

You should consider the following when developing your negotiation and conflict resolution plan:

What outcome is desired by a) the participants and b) the organisation?

The need for the advice and support of experts e.g. HR/IR Specialists, Government Authorities, External experts etc.

What is the proposed negotiation and conflict resolution plan?

How you would advocate organisation’s position with respect to organisational policy?

What will be the process for documenting the outcomes of the negotiation

What is the implementation/action plan with timeframes including implementation of an agreement

What will you do if there is a need for remedial action if the individual concerned does not abide by agreement

Are there any training and development needs currently and in the future?  If so, make suggestions as to how they be addressed.

Nicole has discussed these issues with Norm but these talks have had little impact on his behaviours.
