On completion of this unit, you will be able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of the social and cultural dimensions of health and wellness as experienced by individuals, families, communities and population groups in Australia.
2. Discuss contemporary models of health care provision in relation to primary, secondary and tertiary prevention initiatives, and in the context of health reform in Australia.
3. Identify ways in which health literacy, meanings of health and wellbeing for individuals, families, communities and population groups influence access to, delivery and use of health services.
4. Apply your knowledge of primary health care, health promotion and community development to address social and health inequities.
5. Reflect on your own and others social position in relation to the experience of health and the health care system.
6. Communicate information using appropriate academic conventions and writing skills.
