6. Productivity – Very Important Question

(a) I.B Gardner, an independent garden contractor, finds that it usually takes him 1.2hours to mow the lawn in a typical garden. What is his daily productivity (assume aneight hour day)?

(b) Mr. Gardner believes he can purchase new equipment, which will allow him to mow a typical lawn in one hour. He will, however, have to spend an extra 60 minutes each morning preparing the new equipment. What will be the impact on his productivity rate if he purchases the new equipment?

(c) If the original labour charge out rate was $55 per hour and the new costs $1,500, calculate the new required charge out rate (per hour) if Mr Gardner requires a payback period of 180 days (assume all available hours are booked).Show all working.
