Q1.Historically in Australia, the housing system has been dominated and influenced by the very high rate of home ownership. The emphasis has traditionally been on private ownership and private rental housing policy.
Housing policy at the federal government level has focused largely on encouraging and supporting home ownership through such measures as the first home owners grant, tax incentives for landlords leasing property to tenants in the private rental market and commonwealth rental assistance to people on low incomes.
Discuss what you consider to be the positive and negative aspects of this approach.
Q2 A recent and significant change to the social housing sector within Australia has been the replacement of the Commonwealth State Housing Agreement with the National Affordable Housing Agreement in 2009, following the release of the Federal government’s white paper on homelessness called the “The Road Home: A National Approach to Reducing Homelessness” in December 2008.

Q4 In 2006, the Department of Housing in Queensland commenced implementation of the One Social Housing System for all social housing organisations in the state. The policy statement accompanying this move sets out the department’s vision for community and local government managed housing related services under the One Social Housing System from 2006 to 2011.
Describe the main aspects of the One Social Housing System and what you consider to be the benefits for social housing providers and people in housing need.

Describe two ways in which client participation in service planning and support activities of a community housing organisation can be encouraged and promoted.
Q.9 Identify three strategies to ensure access and equity in the provision of social housing services for tenants/ clients of diverse backgrounds and lifestyles, taking into account differences including language, literacy, cultural, physical, gender and religious differences.
