FOR00109 Forest Modelling and Management

Prepare a checklist of key information you anticipate that you would need to manage a forest estate effectively. Confine your list to critical data that can be measured, predicted and/ormonitored. Your list should be a brief list of critical items, and could form half a page of bulletpoints. You may wish to add a brief paragraph defining the context (i.e., explaining what kind of forest estate you had in mind, and the management objectives for the estate).

The purpose of the assignment is to get you to think about what information is needed for forest management and monitoring, both for the management staff, and to communicate with other stakeholders (neighbours, customers, recreation groups, etc). Many students offer a list that is far too long – I want you to think what is really critical for you to make effective management decisions for your chosen resource, for you to communicate with key stakeholders.
