Overview

This assessment will test your knowledge on the critical issue of supplier evaluation and development. The report should make use of concepts such as supplier selection and evaluation, buyer-supplier relationships and supplier development.

Learning outcomes

1. Explain and evaluate the key concepts, theories and processes in the field of strategic procurement management

2. Select and design procurement related principles and approaches in the formulation of strategic procurement management, administer the supplier selection and negotiation process

3. Investigate and apply procurement related techniques and methods in the integration of strategic procurement management

4. Evaluate and measure alternative strategic sourcing in the context of a flexible global supply chain

5. Build and display appropriate leadership and organizing abilities in leveraging resources, capabilities, and competencies of a group to critically analyse situations and develop solutions to procurement related problems

Assessment Detail

As a group, select an organization you are familiar with or a published case found online. Identify how their supplier selection and evaluation strategies influence the overall supply chain performance. To guide you through the assignment, consider the following three specific points;

1.Identify and assess two distinctive features pertaining to supplier evaluation and selection activities within the company.

2.Does the company take initiatives in developing suppliers? Why or why not?

3.Identify a problem that the company has faced in recent years which you think can be attributed to supply/procurement. What was the action taken by the company? Critique the action.
