    US

Answer:

During the 1970s and 1980s, the US government conducted a "war on drugs" with the goal of eliminating the concept of judicial discretion in providing minimum penalty to drug offenders, and has opted to enact new legislation to fix the punishment of drug offenders. Some politicians, residents, and judges have backed the government's decision, while others have condemned it, claiming that it will increase the number of offenders in prison and the government's money to keep them there. As a result, several politicians and judges have viewed this ruling as favourable to them. And, in response to this judgement, Dr. Thomas stated that the war on drugs is being waged for political reasons and is a violation of human rights (Lynch, 2012).

After considering the criticism, it should be stated that by defying the government's decision, these politicians and judges are putting their own interests ahead of the citizens of the country, who are deteriorating due to drug use, particularly among the youth, who appear to find it easier to take drugs than to find a solution to any problem. As a result, the government's decision is correct since the rights of the group, or all of the country's residents, should take precedence over the rights of the individual. However, this statement has been questioned on the grounds that each individual should have the choice to choose what they put into their bodies. However, this is not the case here since, in general, an individual should have the freedom to decide or make decisions about whether or not to put a substance into their body, but not when it is not only detrimental to their life, but also to the future of all young or the country. As the habit of using drugs is not only continued by a single person, but also by a group of people associated with drug offenders (Haskell, 1995).
