Task:
This unit covers Strategic Risk Management (SRM) and Project Management (PM) fundamentals. Students will develop their project and risk management skills and improve their capabilities to deliver projects to a successful completion. Topics include project creation and planning, scheduling, analysis, resource management, control of projects during their development and execution phases, risk theories and leadership in the context of project and risk management. The focus of this unit is applied learning of best project management practices.
Prerequisites
Enrolment in a graduate-level course.
Aims of the unit
The broad aims of this unit are:
1. To provide insight on strategic risk management principles, practices and procedures;
2. To demonstrate an understanding of how project and risk management adds value to the organisation;
3. To enable students to know how to successfully manage projects;
4. To provide a thorough grounding in the fundamental skills required to lead a team and a project;
5. To provide a critical overview of project management principles, frameworks and processes.
