Tanya is a drilling engineer who lives and works in Perth CBD. She also owns a hobby farm four hundred kilometres north of the city in Geraldton, which she visits on weekends. Tanya has twenty head of cattle on this property, all branded “T”. Next door to Tanya’s farm lives Wesley, a full-time farmer. Wesley keeps an eye on Tanya’s farm when she is away. One afternoon, a freak bush fire sweeps through the local area. Tanya’s fence gets destroyed and her distressed cattle wander freely onto the road. Wesley tries to contact Tanya but he is unaware that she had suddenly flown overseas for a contract job in the Middle East as a last minute replacement for a sick colleague. Tanya did not have time to inform anyone of her trip. Wesley rounds up Tanya’s cattle, and arranges to have Tanya’s fence repaired. When Tanya returns from overseas, Wesley explains what happened and presents her with bills from the fence repairer totalling $1200. Explain whether Tanya will have to pay the costs incurred by Wesley following the bush fire?
