Purpose of the Assessment

This assignment assesses the following Unit Learning Outcomes; students should  be able to demonstrate their achievements in them.           

a.  Apply  socio?technical  contexts  in  modern  network  applications  and  management; 

b.  Utilise  common  and  emerging  types  of  middleware  to  design  and  manage networked applications; 

Introduction

Businesses  rely  on  networks  for all  operations. Hence,  network monitoring is very  crucial  for any  business. Today, networks span globally, having multiple links established between geographically  separated  data  centers,  public  and  private  clouds.  This  creates  multifold  challenges  in  network  management.  Network  admins  need  to  be  more  proactive  and  agile  in  monitoring  network  performance.  

Instruction

Students need to do a literature review about OpManager to explore how this application works and  its different features on two OpManager applications. The two OpManager applications are assigned  to each student as per the following list of OpManager applications and Table 1. 

a) AppOptics by Solarwinds  

b) Site24x7 

c) Exoprise 

d) Tornimo  

e) Dynatrace  

f) Nagios

The articles must be from the books, conferences or journals. The sources of information must be  reported in IEEE format at the end of your report.  

Task 1

Write  a  report  covering  and  detailing  two  OpManager  applications  while  emphasizing  on  the  following aspects:  

a.Real Time Network Monitoring 

b. Physical and virtual server monitoring 

c.Discuss the socio technical principles  OpManager adheres to

Task 2

Prepare  a  PowerPoint  presentation  discussing  the main  features  of  OpManager.  The  PowerPoint  presentation should have at least 10 slides and students should present for 6?8 minutes during lab  time in Week 8.
