BUS840 Business Project Management

Building on the learning of project management basics from weekly classes, this assessment requires students to independently conduct secondary research. Drawing on the extant literature, you are expected to clearly define key concepts, identify and critically analyse relevant studies and themes for developing and supporting your arguments in relation to the assigned topic.

Essay topic:

Identify and critically evaluate the importance of the elements of Project Management Theory as covered in the course in successfully executing urban infrastructure projects i.e. utilities, transport, public buildings such as schools, hospitals, sports fields or IT i.e. health record projects. Your discussion should address stakeholder engagement, critical success factorsand project management approach (es).

Your essay will consist of, but not limited to the following sections:

Introduction :which provides your interpretation of the topic and clarifies the focus of your research essay. For example, why sustainability is relevant, which industry are you going to examine and briefly justify. This then leads to the following sections with a succinct preview.

Body of text - Based on your literature review, this part of your essay will: define the key concepts for your arguments, such as the definition of sustainability/sustainable development; then the essay should develop logical arguments in relation to the assigned topic; critically analyze the key research themes and studies identified, discuss their managerial implications if applicable. Use subtitles to make it clearer. Make sure the focus of industry or business sector is clear and consistent throughout the essay.
