BCOM101 Business Communication

Assessment Task:

Make an oral presentation of 5 minutes duration to the class during the tutorial. The topic which must relate to business communication will be chosen by the student and approved by their lecturer/tutor.

Undertake the following activity.

Presentation:

a) Choose a topic or issue, and have your topic approved by your lecturer.

b) Research, plan, practise and deliver a five minute presentation on the same topic.

Follow these steps:

i) Use the self-evaluation checklist on p. 447 of Dwyer to check and evaluate the planning of your presentation

ii) Use the audience analysis chart in Table A on p. 448 of Dwyer to help you choose and focus your topic.

iii) Then decide on the following. Do you want to design a presentation that: Uses a combination of these?

iv) Plan your presentation. As you plan, use a format similar to Table B on p. 448 of Dwyer to evaluate your audience:\What do they already know?

v) Develop visual aids to assist in the delivery of your presentation e.g. PowerPoint slides.

vi) Practise the presentation with one other person. As you speak, your partner is to complete the self-evaluation checklist. Use this feedback to make refinements to your presentation.

vi) Deliver the presentation to the class
