MBA652 Strategy and Leadership in Tourism and Hospitality

Your Task

You are to create a 7-8 minute video in which you must discuss and critically analyse your experiences as a tourist discussing your best and worst experiences and what you would do to improve these situations for future visitors.

Assessment Description.

In this assessment you are to provide an understanding of the relationship between human resource management and the broader strategic planning functions within an organisation, and critically evaluate the utility of various human resource functions within this industry from weeks 1-8.You must also demonstrate your understanding of leadership, problem-solving and reflective learning relating to the tourism and hospitality industry.

Assessment Instructions

We have all travelled over the years to many different countries and had a wide range of experiences throughout these travels. In this video, you are to reflect on your best and worst experiences in either a destination, hotel or food service organisation.

Your role in this video is to apply 3 - 5 topics of your choice from weeks 1 - 8 and act as a consultant to the tourism and hospitality industry you have chosen to provide valuable improvements to the industry. Your focus can be on leadership, recruitment, motivating employees or managing mental health and how you would use theories and concepts to improve any of the issues you encountered during your travels and time with the industry.

You are also required to develop a set of recommendations that address the challenges and opportunities you have experienced in your travels. In this reflective task, you will need to develop key concepts and recommendations, including:

• A clear assessment of key strategic issues or problems identified;

• A discussion on the theory on how to solve these problems and issues;

• A practical application of ideas on how to overcome the problems;

• At least 5 strategic recommendations in relation to the challenges and opportunities identified.
