Answer:

Cloud Computing is a type of computing that solely relies on sharing of computer resources rather than being dependent on local servers. Cloud Computing can be said as the storing and accessing data and programs simply from the internet rather than relying on the computer’s hard drive. It is mainly used for computing services which includes servers, storage, databases, networking and software analytics and many more (Cloud and cloud, 2017). Practically use of Cloud Computing is simply limitless. There are various forms of Cloud Computing like SaaS, PaaS and IaaS.

Different components and purposes of strategic plan

The different components of a strategic plan are- Goal Setting, Analysis, Strategy Formulation, Strategy Implementation and Evaluation and Control

The company has decided that Cloud Computing will be installed which will replace the existing ERP system and CRM system. The main difference between On-site ERP and Cloud ERP (Saas) is that On-site ERP is installed locally whereas Cloud ERP is available globally. Company that is using ERP is now five years old and need to get an update. Cloud ERP which will get updated continually by the provider and the company can always get the latest systems and the latest version of the ERP software (Amiri, Cavusoglu and Benbasat 2014). The main strategy to implement these plans is to change all the systems with the Cloud ERP which is more advanced than the present systems. The main reason of doing so because with Cloud ERP, systems get much faster also the processing also gets faster which will directly increase the productivity as well as the performance (Cloud and cloud, 2017).

Need for changes

  • The application the company is currently using On-site ERP which is much outdated and also requires lot of support and maintenance which the company current does not hold.
  • In order to avoid all these, the company should opt for Cloud ERP systems where the company needs not to worry about the updates as they will be updated by the providers (Hollensen 2015).
  • Also there is the CRM solution that is installed in the company is also backdated and which is not mobile enabled and the upgrade promises on giving these new features and capabilities along with the Cloud Computing services that comes merged with it (Fernando, Loke and Rahayu 2013).
  • The biggest advantage of Cloud Computing is the Internet of Thingswhich is basically controlled and monitored with the help of Cloud Computing from which the company as well as the employees would be benefitted the most.

Internal Factors that influence the assessment

The internal factors which are responsible for the change are mentioned belowe:

  • The company should consider replacing the old ERP system with the latest Cloud ERP systems because if the employees goes on working with the out dated system, their resources will be limited and this will affect the productivity of the organization (Amiri, Cavusoglu and Benbasat 2014).
  • Companies should make a strategic plan on how to install this new system and what would be the consequences if they go on working with the outdated systems.
  • The company should always try to bring some innovative products and for that they need to get the latest equipments as without them the data processing will not be possible effectively.
  • Prolong use of the outdated system may eventually led to some financial crisis because the system is no longer capable of analyzing the data hence they will be left behind (Fernando, Loke and Rahayu 2013).

External Factors that influence the assessment

The external factors that are responsible are:

  • The first one is the infrastructure that is before installing, the company should know about its limit and if the new system will run with their present infrastructure or not.
  • Every company wants their consumer base to increase so in order to do so they need to install the new systems which will tell them what they are lacking from and how innovation can help them (Amiri, Cavusoglu and Benbasat 2014).
  • The economy of the company is also a critical factor. The company should always keep some economy in reserve as they do not know when it can be of use so it is better not to invest everything on the installation of the system (Fernando, Loke and Rahayu 2013).

Current State of the Organization

Currently the company is involved in ERP and CRM technologies. ERP is used to increase the efficiency and eliminates any repetitive processes. It reduces the need to enter any data manually and gives Integrated Information and Reporting becomes much easier with the help of this. It also maintains accuracy, consistency and security of data (Hollensen 2015). CRM is used to place the information of all the clients in one place and every member of the team can easily view that information. It can also help in generating reports and one can easily view the whole interaction with the client. Using all these, the company lacks many good features of Cloud Computing like the Security, Storage and also helps in better processing of the data (Fernando, Loke and Rahayu 2013).

Critical Success Factors (CSF)

With the use of Cloud Computing, companies can take the advantage of Internet of Things will practically make their reach limitless. Critical Success factors are the elements which are vital for the strategies they are implementing to be successful. With Cloud Computing, they can store data anywhere and any part of the world and can be easily accessed (J.W. and Ransome, 2016). Also, the wearable that use Internet of Things can track the movements of their employees and the data that is collected will be stored directly over the cloud where it will be processed so that the company can make better decisions using this piece of information (Rittinghouse and Ransome 2016). These factors can be strategy forward which can help them to understand the problems and the success that the company needs before the installation. The last critical factor that is the company should evolve with time so that customers come to them and also they should make innovative products rather than making same products over and over again (Fernando, Loke and Rahayu 2013).

Conclusion

Cloud Computing is the new era of computing where it does not depend on the local servers to get connect or look for hard drives for the resources. Cloud Computing is a groundbreaking achievement and the company should consider installing it. It also helps in gathering of information in a much effective way and helps in monitoring. It also helps in making better decision making which can give the company an upper hand over their rivals.
