Question:

Develop a fully integrated strategic business plan – from initial research through to final implementation/review, etc. of the actual plan. – developing a business case for a non-existent firm. This might be the “blue print” for a business model concept.
Developing a future strategic direction for an existing firm/organisation. Examples might include firms where you access to good information/data or an ability to develop a VERY sound base understanding.Developing a deeper awareness, appreciation and empathy with the wider strategic business planning and plan development processes. It is also aimed at developing skills and capability in this area of business management.

Answer:

Communication in an organization is an essential aspect that has to be maintained as this will help in the flow of information. Communication in the strategic enterprise planning committee has not been constant and transparent. Some of the members have been grouping themselves and not willing to associate with the others (Ahlemann, 2012). They have not been open and willing to share information with the others when in a meeting or discussing critical issues. The communication breakdown has made most of the members to lose focus as they are not keenly involved.

The behavior has been continuing and has reached to a place that cannot be sustained at all. The situation made me feel to be out of place or in with the wrong group members. It has made my psych to reduce as I do not feel like continuing with the same committee as no significant activity is going on. I have been able to observe that the members are seen to be grouping themselves with a reason that they take themselves to be superior. They are not willing to share any relevant information to all the committee members (Chhabra, & Kumar, 2012). They prefer carrying out activities of the group without involving all the other members. Information shared with the members is limited in a way that it will only be shed lightly to the members.

I will have to learn to understand different kinds of individuals and how they operate more so when working as a team. The fact that I become angry and lose focus the moment I feel like things are not right, I will have to learn to study and try to be persistent and press on so as to know where the problem is. Leading as an example will also have to be an attribute that will help in such a situation. It will have to impart the sense of togetherness and sharing thus slowly the members will be willing to share more as we continue with our activities.

Issues and Challenges of Making Decisions

Making decisions that are critical and sensitive has been a significant issue as the members were not able to come to a sound and reasonable decision. Members have been arguing all along each one of them advocating for their idea. The process has been a dull one as making a decision has not been an easy task.

Whenever a decision is made, it will not be final as there will always raise an argument that will have to mean that the decision made be revoked. The arguments have persisted for a long time to the point that it makes me feel like the committee has no purpose (Cunha, Moreira, & Varajao, 2014). The fact that the committee is responsible for strategic enterprise planning, they are not involved in the prime purpose of planning but arguing over nothing. The arguments make me feel out of place as I am not fond of arguing when I already know the decision made is right. Decision making is the main issue that has made me feel like not participating and at the same time withdrawing from the committee.

The committee works well in all the other aspects that are involved in strategic planning, but the problem comes in when a final decision is to be laid. Some committee members will at all point be against any decision that is brought to the table by other members. Despite the fact that the decision is supported by tangible evidence and is seen to be the best option they won’t give in unless they put in an argument (Pillkahn, 2013). The members will argue over decision making to the point that they waste more of their time arguing instead of working on the strategic planning of the organization.

When it comes to the point of decision making, I will have to ensure that I contribute to the decision making process with the expected supporting facts that will not have to raise any queries or arguments among the members. I will also have to ensure that there is a procedure that will be followed in making critical decisions so that to avoid unnecessary arguments (Targowski, 2015). I will also have to educate my committee members on the best decision making processes that will at all point have no room for arguments.

 Managerial and Leadership Skills

Leading a strategic enterprise planning team requires a determined individual who is ready to lead and manage the team appropriately. The team was in the position of breaking up because of the misunderstandings among the members. The threats posed by the members made me feel like I had no relevant and required skills needed to lead the group. It made me think of resigning my duties.

The members of the group have been seen to always be in an argument that saw the decision made by the team is revoked. The members were also operating and at times involving themselves in activities that were not favoring the fulfillment of the strategic plan. The command that I had for the group was no longer there as some of the members started equating themselves to me and others thought that they were better than me. All the above activities made me think of a new format that will have to help me lead another different group or team to success (Whittle, & Myrick, 2014). I will have to ensure that my managerial skills are improved by equipping myself with the required skills. Interacting with other managers and learning their way of managing will have to equip me with the best skills to manage a team of strategic enterprise planning.
