Feedback from assignment 1: You have done good and broad research for your literature review and demonstrate an emerging understanding of key ideas related to the impact of social media on organisations and their communication. However, issues with the structure of the paper as well as paragraph structure let you down. Firstly, you have not written an introduction that would have outlined your research problem as well as the scope of the lit review. As a result, your topic remains unclear. Secondly, the lit review should have been organised by themes (i.e. key ideas) emerging from literature. While there are some key ideas present in your paper, you have not identified and foregrounded them but tend to bury them in the paragraphs. Foregrounding key themes as well as writing well-structured paragraphs will help you distinguish between voices from existing literature and your own voice, demonstrate critical evaluation of the sources and ensure that your overall argument is clear and flows logically. For an example of good paragraph structure, see Week 4 Study Guide. The use of ULOs as a means to organise the paper is confusing. Please see further comments done throughout your paper. From a grammatical viewpoint, you write well. However, you tend to refer to ideas and arguments very briefly without unpacking them further and supporting them with examples from literature which leaves the ideas vague. Working on strong paragraph structure will help you address issues with vague expression. It seems there are two different approaches you could take to exploring the topic of the impact of social media on organisational effectiveness: social media used for internal communications; and social media used for communications with customers/other external stakeholders. Currently, you are discussing both internal and external communications. Going forward, you need to focus on one or the other, further refine your research problem and then reassess the literature you need to review for the next two assessment tasks to make a strong case for your proposed project. Think about what it is that you want to research and how you can go about achieving your research objective (conceptual framework, method, etc.).
