Assessment

Your presentation will be assessed on the demonstration of knowledge and understanding of the topics as depicted through the content of the slides, scripts and Handout. You will also be assessed on presentation structure, appearance and design of visual aids. You should learn to study, research and do your own work. If your work is found to be copied from another source, plagiarism penalties will be applied as per University policy. 

Context

Assuming you are working in an Australian business. In a recent executive meeting, your CEO stated that the business should investigate the possible role that Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system could play. Your CEO is interested in the possibility of integrating various functional areas and the associated business benefits. Your CEO would like to hear more about this topic and has asked you to research on relevant information, so as to develop a presentation for the CEO and other executives.

There is no face-to-face presentation. The assessment is based on your achievement as reflected in the submitted materials.

Assumptions:

This specification sets the basic parameter. There is flexibility for you to make reasonable assumptions on information not covered by this specification. For example, you may make assumptions on your role, the industry and size of the business. You may choose to use an environment that you are familiar with, through your experience as a staff member, customer or researcher. The assumptions should be presented as part of the background information in the Introduction slide. 

Task:

As a start, study COIS12073 learning materials in weeks one to four. It offers you preliminary concepts. Then research on relevant academic literature (such as textbooks and peer-reviewed journal articles) and quality industry sources. You are expected to add a significant body of new materials, different perspective or depth to the information already covered in the Unit materials. Learn to apply theories into real life practice, with high quality references as support.

Prepare an engaging presentation for the CEO and other executives, including business and IT managers. Many members in the audience are non-technical managers. However, you can assume that they are intelligent people who understand business arguments and good explanations on technology solutions.
