Enteral nutrition (EN) is a medical therapy to clinically provide food through catheter tubes. The nutrition contains vitamins, minerals and other necessary dietary components, which are provided to patients to meet their metabolic requirement due to some alteration of digestive system functioning. However, nurses lack the critical knowledge of administrating nasogastric tubes, which may lead to several ethical issues related to metabolic or physiologic risks of food absorption. Hence, a registered nurse should be involved in the patient assessment which is able to prioritize the health and safety of patients (Das et al., 2015). Therefore, research paper will identify the questions in which nurse can encounter the issues in food supply, strategies that nurse can use, identifying ways and existing nursing practice to provide EN.

Problem statement

Major focus of the study will be to identify various complications associated with various complications can be associated with tube maintenance which are necessary to be monitored. The identified variables of the study are tube adjustments, infections occurrence, electric stoppage feeding and abnormalities due to abrupt delivery. The paper will identify the difference, levels, effects, and any other factors affecting variables. The research problem, identify will try to fill the gap of literature available related to the topic (Alsohime et al., 2021). The paper will identify the ways of dealing with patients having EN keeping into consideration of the process of drug mixing and crushing along with frequency and volume of feeding.

  2. What is the enteral nutrition strategy that is utilised by nurses to apply to critically ill patients?
