ICT700 System Analysis and Design

Issues with the current system- there are several issues with the present system, which can be resolved by the introduction of the new system. The issues are-

• Changes can be made by anyone in the patient’s document- the record that the patient has provided can be altered by anyone in the hospital and thus, the track can be inappropriate. This can  reduce the efficiency of the healthcare of the hospital (Coloma et al., 2013).
• The hospital is not able to know the portions where it lacks in treating the patients- the management team of the hospital is not able to know the faults in the system. It is not easy for them to figure out the proper issues and thus, the exact portion where the improvement is needed cannot be found out (Joao & Ritcheson, 2014).
• Outsiders can intrude- outsiders can intrude the system as it is manual and any change can be made by them which can be proved fatal for the reputation of the hospital and the major issue related with it is that the healthcare of patient gets degraded by these.

• Security threat- many security threat can be posed because of improper maintenance of the record of patients (Fernández et al., 2013).

Capabilities of introduced system- the capabilities of the proposed system are-

• It can improve the quality of patient safety in the hospitals- if proper digital record is maintained by the hospitals for the students, then the healthcare system can improve the quality of safety of patients in the management.
• Effective patient care can be developed- the effectiveness of the healthcare of patient can be improved by maintaining the records.
• Large amount of data can be managed by the system- if the record is kept manually, large amount of data can be handled by the system and thus it will be easy for the system to manage the records and maintain them properly (Xu, Cheng & Cai, 2014).

Benefits of proposed system- there are many benefits which can be gained by the hospitals if proper record is maintained. The benefits are as follows-

• The management of chronic conditions can be facilitated- the leading cause of illness, death and disability are the chronic conditions. The person who suffer from those condition account for more than 75 percent of all the healthcare spending and moreover, more than half of the spending is for the people who have multiple symptoms of such conditions (Sauzet et al., 2013). If proper record is maintained, the treatment of chronic conditions can be enhanced.
• Accurate, complete and updated information can be maintained about the patients- if proper health record is maintained, the healthcare management can keep proper track of the patients (Austin et al., 2015).
• Patients records can be accessed quickly- maintaining of records can reduce the delay caused in the accessing of records of the patient (Fernández et al., 2013).
• The information can be shared with patients can other clinics securely-if record ia maintained, the security threats in transferring information to other clinics and patients can be reduced.
• The effectiveness in diagnosing the patients, reducing medical errors and providing of safer care can be enhanced-with the help of record these function of the clinic can get enhanced (Joao & Ritcheson, 2014).
• The interaction between the patient and the provider can be enhanced-the healthcare can be made convenient and thus the interaction between the patient and the provider cab be more effective (Coloma et al., 2013).
• Prescribing can be more reliable-records can make the prescribing process reliable for the patient and the provider.
• The security and privacy of patient data can be enhanced-the maintenance of records cab improve the quality of security of the patient’s data.
• Enhancing the streamlined coding the billing-the records can enable the legible and complete documentation. They can also help in accurate and streamlined coding and billing.
• Improves the productivity of work-life balance- the maintenance of records can be beneficial to keep the balance between the work-life of the staffs of the clinic as they can get sufficient time (Xu, Cheng & Cai, 2014).
