The response to the selection criteria was made using Situation, Task, Action, Result (STAR model) as it is used by interviewers to evaluate the whether a candidate possess the required capability to do a particular job (Cook, 2009). I developed excellent written communication skills and the ability to write documents effectively in a concise manner during my college days. As a college student has to complete a lot of written assignments during their academic career. I too had to complete a number of assignments during my academic career. Recently, I had to write a literature review on the application of machine learning algorithms in signal processing and the assignment had to be completed within 10 days. I spend one day collecting most of the details and previous works related to signal processing and machine learning algorithms.

Then I had to go through all the details in the available literature for which I spend 3 days. After that I spend 2 days in refining the literature by noting down the main points in the literature. Then I spend 3 days in writing the document and the document was organized in a systematic way by starting with a cover page which contained the heading of the topic and my name and credentials. The next page was an executive summary and after that a table of contents was given. After this page a brief introduction about the report was given followed by the body of the report. The report ended with the conclusion and references used to write the report. Then the final day was used to proofread the document to correct the minor mistakes in the report. The report was submitted on time and I got appreciation for submitting the assignment on time without any mistakes. I also got the maximum marks for the assignment. 

I demonstrated my organizational ability and initiative when I was working as a Machine Learning Intern at Microsoft Corporation. As part of my work I was assigned to assist in organizing an international conference on Machine Learning. I was made member of the technical committee of the conference and was assigned with the task of finalizing the technical papers received for the conference and printing the conference proceedings. I was assigned a team of five personnel for performing the task. I first made a checklist of the work to be performed by arranging the work in chronological order and then assigned the work to each of the individuals. Initial work was to finalize the technical paper for which I divided the total number of papers equally and assigned each part of the work to different individuals for proofreading and correction were carried out.

The finalized papers were then submitted to the printing press, the personnel in the printing press prepared a draft copy of the conference proceedings and again the copy had to be proofread for two three times and the final level of corrections were carried out. The next step was to design the cover pages of the proceedings along with the advertisements of the sponsors of the conference. The designing part was done by the printing press by incorporating our suggestions once everything was done a final draft of the proceedings with the cover page and all the advertisement was submitted to the conference chairman and then finalized five days before the conference date. All the proceeding was delivered to us one day before the conference. My team was well appreciated for the dedication shown to make the conference a grand success. 

I developed strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people at all organizational levels when I was working as an Artificial Intelligence Intern at Facebook. Facebook had a good flow of hierarchy and as an intern I was part of a team for developing a game. The team comprised of a diverse group of individuals from different hierarchy and ethnic background. The team was led by a senior level project manager and under him there were a group of individuals from different aspects of game development such as animation, graphics, code developers, code testers and so on.

Working with such a team was in itself a great chance to develop my interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with different individuals. During the development of the game there were routine meetings once in a week to review the progress of the project and this was the time when all the individuals of the team would share their work and review what they did right and where they made mistakes and the team suggests the modifications that should be made by them to finish of the project in the stipulated time of 3 months. This interactive session gave me the right amount of exposure to improve my interpersonal and communication skills. The project was completed within the stipulated time and the game was a success among the users and our team received an award for completing the project in time and for making it a success. 

In my academic career I was the captain of the college cricket team and every year the university organizes an inter college cricket tournament. I was assigned with the task of leading my college team to success and for this we had to work as a team as cricket is a team sport and it cannot be won unless we play like a team. Even though all the members of the team were from the same college each one of them belonged to a different department and if all of them were good players but in order to make a team out of these talented players we had to undergo a lot of training and had to mix together as a team.

A lot of practice matches were organized inside the college campus for us to practice together and this helped us in analyzing our strengths and weaknesses. Then we worked on improving our strengths and eliminating our weaknesses together as a team, the more experienced players helped the players who were weaker and helped in improving their game for the better. We started to spend more time in the nets for practicing and also started to hang out together for some time after the practice which helped us to mix together as a team. Finally, when the time came we played really well and ended the tournament as runners up.
